Haven't gotten a chance to go over to Java Green Cafe
at 19th and L? Well, you should; it is definitely worth your time.
Voted best vegetarian restaurant two years in a row through VegDC.com, Java Green Cafe is a food haven for vegans, vegetarians, environmentally conscious eaters and anyone looking for a good meal. The cafe does not serve any meat, fish or egg products. It does, however, have soy "meat" options. For instance, the Boolgogi sandwich contains soy beef, mushrooms, onions, lettuce, tomato, organic cheese and veg-mayo. It may not have real meat in it, but you would never know if you didn't look closely at the ingredients. And it is delicious! The menu has other great options like the Veggie Burger, Tofu and Avocado wrap, a variety of salads and soups, cookies and coffee.
Java Green also caters. Their catering menu includes sandwiches, salads, finger foods and sweets. Maybe consider going green for your next office party meal!
Besides offering a green menu, the cafe uses wind power and offers either reusable dishes (if you're dining in) or biodegradable containers and bags (for take away customers). It truly is a green cafe.
