Photo spot: Awesome car engine

By Lauren Duncan, Local CorrespondentFri, May 15 2009 at 2:58 PM EST

I was on King5’s website catching up on current events when I saw this headline: "West Coast college towns show most interest in hybrid vehicles." And I was reminded of a photo I recently uploaded onto my computer.

This photo is from the University of Washington campus. I was on my way to the student union building for lunch when, upon stepping onto a main part of the campus, I saw a bunch of people standing around. Not only were they standing around, but they were all standing around … cars? On campus? I am not car-savvy in the least, but I had to see what was going on. "Oh, awesome, environmental car show!!!"

This car in particular caught my eye:

This car is an average Toyota -- but it’s been transformed into a homemade hybrid. Look at it. What do you see? Are those golf cart parts? Is that an old water bottle? Is that a part of a CD player?! This car is recycling, creativity and energy saving all in one hood! Kudos to this artist and environmentally conscious fellow. Thanks to him, one less car is taking up tons of energy and instead is releasing less into the environment.
