2010 Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference

The 2010 Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference will be held from May 4 – 6, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

Fri, Apr 09 2010 at 1:50 PM EST

The 2009 Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference brought in over 3,000 attendees. From politicians to advocates and students to green business owners, everyone joined forces to help promote the importance of good green jobs and a green collar economy. The 2010 conference is just around the corner, May 4-6, and conference organizers are expecting more than 4,000 attendees this year.

As would be expected, the conference schedule is chock full of exciting workshops. In looking through the schedule a few piqued my interest including a discussion on Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety which will discuss green chemistry’s benefit to both the environment and occupational health and safety concerns. Green chemistry is something that I’m particularly interested in as it has the potential to make a huge impact on the environment due to its widespread use.

Another workshop series that I would love to sit in on is the track that focuses on business, investments, and new markets. Obviously green businesses need to get funded in order to succeed. Topics scheduled to be covered in this track include getting investors to invest, the basics of building the green economy, and how to compete with Chinese investments in the clean energy sector.

In addition to the workshop, the conference will also host the Green Jobs Advocacy Day and the 2010 Green Innovation Expo. The Expo is free and open to the public and will feature exhibits from leaders in sustainability, green jobs, and a green economy.

This year’s Green Jobs Advocacy Day, coordinated by the Blue Green Alliance, will be on May 6. Advocates will head to Capitol Hill and meet with policymakers to discuss climate change and clean energy legislation, OSHA reform, transportation investment, and more.

Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to attend the event, as I’ll be knee deep in finals because I am graduating in May! Are you planning on going to the 2010 Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference? If so, what workshop tracks are you most looking forward to attending?
