Clif Bar & Company, best known for its line of organic foods and drinks, is now going to be known as the owner of the first LEED Platinum certified building in Emeryville, Calif. The company’s 115,000-square-foot headquarters building received top honors in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) category.

Green building features that helped the company receive the highest USGBC rating include:

  • A rooftop smart solar array
  • Low-flow plumbing
  • More than 12,000 board feet of reclaimed wood
  • Recycled denim was used to create sound-absorbing panels
  • Recycled artwork including pieces made from retired bikes, kayaks and other outdoor gear
  • Four atrium gardens

Perks of working at Clif Bar & Company go beyond the beautiful LEED Platinum certified office space. Other company benefits include the onsite 6,700-square-foot childcare facility, organic breakfasts and lunches at Kali’s Kitchen, a fitness center and bike storage for those employees who choose a self-powered two-wheeled commute to work.
