Although it feels like Greenbuild 2009 just ended, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and green building professionals from around the world are preparing for Greenbuild 2010. This year’s green building conference and expo will be held in Chicago, Illinois and the Chicago chapter of the USGBC has a video preview online.
Did you know?- As of September 2009, Chicago has more LEED certified buildings than any other U.S. city.
- There are 5 LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) pilot projects in the State of Illinois.
- A former steel mill in South Chicago is going to be redesigned into the ultimate LEED-ND community.
- Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, which is LEED-EB Silver certified, is the largest LEED certified commercial building in the world.
This is not the first time that Chicago has hosted the USGBC’s annual conference. Greenbuild 2007 was also held in Chicago but this year’s event will be even bigger – double the space of the 2007 event. The theme for this year is Generation Green: Redefining our future and more information will be posted on the official Greenbuild 2010 website as it becomes available.
