If you’d like to learn more about cool roofs, tax incentives for green building owners, or prepare for the LEED Green Associate exam, sign up for one of the following green building webinars in July 2010.

Will a cool roof pay off for you?
As the temperature hovers near 110 here in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, I think that all of the surrounding buildings need to have a cool roof. However, convincing building owners that this is a wise decision might just come down to the financial benefits of a cool roof. Buildings.com will be answering the question “Will a Cool Roof Pay Off for you?” in its July 7 webinar.

The webinar is designed to help building owners find out exactly what a cool roof is, understand cool roofing standards, and how to factor in this information when choosing your next roofing product.

Thomas W. Hutchinson of the Hutchinson Design Group will be leading this hour-long webinar that begins at 1 p.m. ET on July 7. There is no fee to attend this webinar, but pre-registration is required.

LEED tax incentives and credits for green buildings
Lorman Education Services will be hosting a 1.5-hour teleconference on July 14, at 1 p.m. to discuss tax incentives and credits available to green building owners. Terry Hudgins and Paul Naumoff of Ernst & Young will be facilitating the teleconference, which will cover federal and state tax incentives, utility rebates, Recovery Act-related funding for green buildings, financing and loan programs, and the potential impact of pending federal legislation related to green buildings.

The registration fee for the teleconference is $219 or $288 for the live teleconference as well as an archived CD recording of the call. A variety of continuing education units (CEUs) are available to registered attendees including AIA and GCBI units.

LEED green associate overview & exam prep
If you’re planning on taking the LEED Green Associate exam, Green Education Services is offering eight hours of live and interactive online training. The LEED Green Associate Overview & Exam Prep Webinar will be held from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. ET on July 22 and July 23. The program will cover green building principles as well as LEED core concepts and is required for anyone wishing to sit for the LEED Green Associate exam that does not have live work experience with a LEED project or does not currently work in a sustainable field.

In addition to the webinar, registrants will receive all of the study materials needed to sit for the LEED Green Associate exam, have access to four full-length practice exams, and have instructor support until you pass the exam.

There are currently 10 spots left for the webinar and the registration fee is $199.
