New Orleans’ Café Reconcile is the type of business that really warms my heart. The restaurant, which was opened more than a decade ago, caters to at-risk youth in the area. However, the youth in this underserved community don’t just receive on-the-job training in a fully functioning restaurant; they also receive valuable life skills training in a classroom setting. As Chef Joe says, “When a pupil is ready, the teacher will appear.” Hundreds of pupils have made themselves ready over the years and the staff at Café Reconcile has welcomed them with open arms.
