During his July 17, 2010 weekly address, President Obama actively encouraged Republican Senators to stop blocking the vote on the unemployment benefit extension that more than a million Americans are waiting for. As unemployment continues to hover near record highs, benefits are running out and families are left wondering how they will be able to put food on the table.
While programs funded by the Recovery Act are working to get Americans back to work, including those looking for work in the clean energy industry, more needs to be done to bridge the gap between the old job and the new job. According to the Senate calendar, a roll call vote on H.R.4213 will be held tomorrow at 2:30 pm. If passed, this will extend unemployment benefits through November, giving those that are out of work a few more months to find a job without having to worry about how they will feed their families.
