After carefully searching for the right community for its new wind power nacelle production facility, Siemens chose Hutchinson, Kansas. The new production plant will bring more than 400 new jobs to this town with approximately 42,000 residents.
The nacelle is an important part of a wind turbine; the nacelle is responsible for turning the turbine blades. Workers at the 300,000 square-foot production facility will produce approximately 650 of these nacelles on an annual basis. The Siemens plant is expected to be operational in the fall of 2010.
