The Environmental Systems degree program at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) was creating in 2002. At the time of the program’s inception, there were only a few students in the degree track but now there are more than 200 students who have declared an environmental systems major. The green job trend is spreading beyond the workforce and into educational institutions.

The four-year degree program has four different tracks:

  • Earth Sciences
  • Ecology, Behavior and Evolution
  • Environmental Chemistry
  • Environmental Policy
Graduates of the Environmental Systems program are prepared to pursue graduate studies in the environmental sciences or enter the workforce.
