If you’ve been reading my blog for very long, you might have deduced that I’m a fan of the U.S. Green Building Council and the organization’s LEED certification process.  I visit the USGBC website on a daily basis and today, the flashy banner at the top was geared towards green job seekers.  Obviously, green building helps create green jobs and since the USGBC is the nation’s ultimate green building resource, it makes sense to have a section focused on eco-friendly jobs and a green economy.

USGBC Career Center
The first place that many people go when looking for a new job is the internet.  Sites like Monster and CareerBuilder have reshaped the face of job searches and the USGBC offers its own online career center.  The site has separate tasks available for job seekers and employers/recruiters.  Job seekers can post an anonymous resume (a must in my opinion), view available jobs and create job alerts that send an email with new job opportunities directly to your inbox.

Green Building Education
The GreenBuild365 website is a comprehensive green building education resource.  Whether you want to attend an in-person green building course watch Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s Opening Plenary from GreenBuild 2008, you can find what you need on GreenBuild365.

Green Economy Research
The USGBC website is filled with a plethora of information about green building, green jobs, the green economy, etc but there are a few articles that the organization has chosen to highlight.  These three articles are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format and are a must-read for any green job seeker.

A green job seeker can spend hours on the U.S. Green Building Council’s website browsing through the organization’s many resources.  If you’re in the market for a green job or thinking about switching careers, take the time to look through all of the available information on the USGBC website.
