A panel of experts gathered in Washington, D.C. on Monday to discuss the Obama administration’s plans for building a 21st century grid. The plan will help modernize the electric grid, boost the nation’s clean energy economy and help create new green jobs.

The discussion followed a series of initiatives announced earlier in the day. These public and private sector initiatives include:

$250 million in loans for smart-grid technology deployment
Commitments by the Department of Energy that will allow customers more access to their own energy information
The formation of the Renewable Energy Rapid Response Team to help advance the nation’s clean energy economy in a more organized and timely fashion
