Watch: Joining Forces responsible for 125,000 hires

Companies exceed President Obama’s challenge to train or hire veterans and military spouses.

In August 2011 President Obama issued a challenge to business owners: hire or train 100,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2013. First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden took the lead on this challenge through the Joining Forces initiative. Last week, the First Lady announced that the 2,000 companies participating in the initiative not only met the challenge but exceeded it with 125,000 veterans and military spouses trained or hired.
