In August, the national unemployment rate was 9.1 percent. While this rate is simply unacceptable, the unemployment rate for our nation’s veterans is even more shocking — 13.3 percent. There are approximately 1 million unemployed veterans in the nation. Unfortunately, as more veterans return from the battlefield, we may see this number rise even higher. Veterans are just one of the many groups specifically addressed in President Obama’s American Jobs Act, but as Martin Bashir explains in this video, the “do-nothing Congress” is living up to its name by not acting on the president’s proposal.
