Two LEED for New Construction and one LEED for Commercial Interiors projects are featured this week.  Take a tour of these three buildings – from the West Coast to the East Coast and a stop in the Biggest Little City in the World.

Montage Beverly Hills – California
The stunning Montage Beverly Hills hotel in California was awarded LEED for New Construction Gold certification this week.  The 201-room ultra luxury hotel is one of only four hotels in the world to receive LEED Gold certification.  “Montage Beverly Hills is also the first newly constructed mixed-use hotel and residential project to be LEED certified as a single development, denoting it as a high performance building that is a responsible, efficient and healthy place to live and work.” Source: Montage Beverly Hills

Eighty-three percent of the building’s construction waste was recycled, 28% of the materials were locally sourced, and the building is 43% more efficient than a non-green mixed-use building.

Center for Light+Space – New York, New York
The Center for Light+Space sales office and showroom in Manhattan has been awarded LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) Gold certification.  The project earned its certification, in part, through the use of recycled materials, furniture with recycled content, locally manufactured products, and Energy Star electronics and appliances.

Athletics Academic Center – Reno, Nevada
Green sports and fitness complexes have been popular here on MNN over the past few weeks but this isn’t, exactly, an athletics center.  Instead, the Athletics Academic Center allows the University of Nevada, Reno to merge athletics and academics.

“The $6.6 million facility features seven tutorial rooms for private and group study, a 38-workstation computer lab and a 2,000-square foot study center plus offices for instructors and staff. Its exterior design also contributes to improved handicapped accessibility in and around the athletic complex.”  Source: University of Nevada, Reno

The 8,300 square foot building received LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
