Founding Farmers, an upscale-casual restaurant in Washington, D.C, recently received LEED for Commercial Interiors

More than 80% of the appliances in use at the restaurant are ENERGY STAR rated, a high-efficiency HVAC system is in use, and the restaurant purchases renewable energy credits to account for half of its energy use. The restaurant is also a Certified Green Restaurant, a program of the Green Restaurant Association.
Chipotle Mexican Grill – Gurnee, Illinois
The company’s recent LEED Platinum certification only adds to their sustainable image. The new Gurnee, IL restaurant was built according to the LEED for Retail pilot program specifications. The facility uses a wind turbine for onsite energy generation, an underground rainwater harvesting system, recycled building materials and much more. Chipotle Mexican Grill’s Gurnee, IL location is the first LEED Platinum certified restaurant.
Alpine Bank – Telluride, Colorado
Alpine Bank in Telluride, CO is taking green finance to a new level. After a recent major remodel project, the branch achieved LEED-CI Silver certification. The bank’s access to mass transit, use of ENERGY STAR appliances and computers, non-toxic carpet, and bike and ski racks helped contribute towards the LEED Silver certification.
In addition to the LEED certification, the bank is supporting eco-friendly efforts in the community. The bank is sponsoring a reusable bag challenge in which the winning public school will receive $5,000 towards a solar system installation.
