As the economy limps along, urban professionals are increasingly getting back to basics. The recession has led to a whole lot of rethinking — of goals and even careers. Rather than wait for the ideal job (or any job) to come along, people are creating opportunities for themselves and even bringing others along with them. They’re following what they once thought of as Plan B — or even Plan C — and often acting on the impulse to give back to the planet without leaving home.
