The state’s first LEED certified facility is the segregation unit for the Monroe Correctional Complex. For $39 million, the state equipped the 200-person facility with a rainwater collection system for toilet-flushing water and low-energy lighting. Washington’s current prison construction plan is expected to cost $500 million.
