JapanPrime Minister Yukio Hatoyama took office last week, ending nearly 50 years of one-party rule in Japan by the Liberal Democrat party. Hatoyama's Democratic Party is expected to be less pliant to U.S. interests than its predecessor, although most of its policies are still taking shape, including its stance on greenhouse gas emissions.
