Russian President Dmitry Medvedev governs the world's No. 3 emitter of greenhouse gases, and when he took office in May 2008, he inherited a growing economy fueled mainly by energy exports. Oil and natural gas are big business in Russia, although Medvedev has recently been hailing the importance of energy efficiency and renewable power sources.
