The new New York CityNew York City made headlines recently with its plans to green the Empire State Building, but that's not the Big Apple's only eco-ambition. The city is also working to turn an abandoned railroad — the High Line, which runs for 1.5 miles above the Upper West Side — into a green sanctuary open to the public. New Yorkers will be able to walk more than 20 blocks without coming in contact with a single yellow taxi, certainly a historic accomplishment.
