If the big bank debacles of the past few years haven’t already convinced you that community banks are a good banking alternative, then perhaps this bit of news will. Kasasa community banks and credit unions are sponsoring a two-day, $80,000 gas giveaway.

 

The Great Gas Giveaway will run from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Aug. 15 and 16 at select gas stations in 20 cities. The first 200 people at participating locations will receive $20 in free gas, even if the lucky patrons aren’t Kasasa bank customers. During the two-day event, Kasasa banks will be paying for $80,000 in gas.

 

To find out if you live in one of the 20 selected communities, simply visit the Great Gas Giveaway Facebook page and use the map to locate participating gas stations or scroll down to the end of this post for a complete listing.

 

Most of the locations are in the eastern half of the nation but Portland, Ore., residents are in luck. The Downtown 76 at 1967 SW 4th Avenue is participating in the event on Aug. 15.

 

But if you’re a fellow Arizona resident, don’t get too excited. There are no participating locations in the entire state. In fact, the closest location is in Dallas, Texas, and I’m pretty sure that most of us would spend more than $20 in gas driving that far.
