I admit, I am amazed with how quickly the payroll tax cut legislation is making its way through Congress. This week the do-nothing Congress has been a do-something Congress and their action is leaving $83 per month in the average American household’s budget. The benefits of the extension go beyond the monthly budget bottom line, though. Brian Deese, deputy directory of the National Economic Council, explains the importance of the payroll tax cut extension and the positive effect it may have on the nation’s economic recovery.
