It was auto auction weekend here in the Phoenix metropolitan area. At the Barrett-Jackson, Russo & Steele and RM Auctions, hundreds of millions of dollars of classic vehicles were sold, including George Barris' original Batmobile. The Batmobile was sold as an exclusive Barrett-Jackson Salon Car and ultimately, the vehicle fetched $4.2 million.

I admit, the whole family watched along on the television as the Batmobile rolled on to the stage at Barrett-Jackson and cheered when we discovered that the iconic vehicle was sold to a local guy, Rick Champagne of Ahwatukee, Arizona. While we may be a car loving family, a $4.2 million vehicle isn’t in any of our futures. Nevertheless, it was fun to watch.
