If you’re in the market for a new home and want to take advantage of the best mortgage rates available then you need to take appropriate steps to ensure your credit score is as high as possible. Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, founder of The Money Coach, shares a few tips that will help consumers improve their credit scores. One tip really surprised me: use a credit card instead of a debit card to rent a car. The reasoning behind this is that if you pay for a car rental with a debit card then the car rental agency has the right to pull your credit bureau report, thus adding another inquiry to your report. In the case of credit report inquiries, more isn’t better.
