Do you leave a tip when you receive exception customer service from a barista at Starbucks? If you do, would you be comfortable with salaried managers or non-salaried shift supervisors receiving a portion of your tip because they help manage the store?
Salaried managers don’t receive tips but they want in on the action and while shift supervisors do receive a portion of customer gratuities, that income stream is in jeopardy. Starbucks baristas aren’t in the sharing mood and have filed a lawsuit against Starbucks asking that shift supervisors be excluded from receiving a portion of the tips.
