Jack MacDonald was a multimillionaire, but most people who knew him were unaware of his fortune until he died in September, leaving $187.6 million to charity.

The 98-year-old man wore threadbare clothes and clipped coupons, and only his closest friends knew of his wealth. MacDonald donated his millions to the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, the University of Washington School of Law and the Salvation Army.
