25th Cox Conserves Heroes announced

Cox Enterprises and The Trust for Public Land have honored the 25th individual in the Cox Conserves Heroes program.

Cox Enterprises partnered with The Trust for Public Land to recognize community volunteers for their work in preserving outdoor spaces through the Cox Conserves Heroes program. Last week, the program honored its 25th recipient, Donna Shearer from the Atlanta market.

As the winner of the 2012 Atlanta Cox Conserves Heroes program, Donna was able to select a nonprofit organization that would receive a $10,000 donation. Donna works to protect the hemlock trees in North Georgia and so it is only fitting that her nonprofit of choice was Save Georgia’s Hemlocks.

To date, the Cox Conserves Heroes program has donated more than $280,000 to 76 environmental nonprofits.
