If you’re a female entrepreneur in need of a cash infusion, or know one that does, you need to act quickly to take advantage of a grant opportunity. Women’s clothing company Eileen Fisher is accepting applications for the 2011 Business Grant Program for Women Entrepreneurs but the deadline is 11:59pm ET on May 15, 2011.

The grant program will award $12,500 to up to five 100 percent women-owned businesses that help promote both environmental and economic health in their communities. Businesses must be either a completely for-profit venture or a profit/non-profit hybrid in order to qualify for this grant program.

Additionally, grant applications will be accepted in two categories: established businesses and startups. An established business must be at least three years old and in a position to launch into a new business growth stage. Startups are defined as businesses less than three years old that have a solid business plan.

The winners of the 2010 contest, which was the seventh year for the program, were just recently announced. Four businesses received a 2010 Eileen Fisher business grant of $12,500:

  • Arterro – Madison, Wisconsin
  • Creative Beast, LLC – Seattle, Washington
  • Hadley Stilwell – Seattle, Washington
  • Kinkaraco – San Francisco, California
"These women have seen a need in the market for their product while considering the impact they are having on the environment and on the people in their communities," says Cheryl Campbell, EILEEN FISHER's Business Grant Facilitator. "This has made their businesses healthy and viable, and we look forward to seeing them grow in the future." Source: Eileen Fisher
