Arizona McDonald’s restaurants are giving away 28,000 backpacks
to school children beginning at 8:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2013. The ‘Backpack Saturday’ event is the largest of its kind in Arizona and the first 100 children that visit a participating McDonald’s restaurant will receive a free backpack.
While the majority of Arizona McDonald’s locations will be participating in Backpack Saturday, mall and Walmart-based restaurants aren’t included in this back-to-school giveaway.
In addition to the free backpack giveaway, 70 restaurants are hosting a free health and safety fair.
"These fairs are free and are in the Phoenix communities and beyond – some 30 Arizona cities," said Michelle Slayton, president of McDonald's Owner/Operator Association of Phoenix and northern Arizona. "We partnered with more than 90 community organizations to provide valuable information on health and safety, so bring the family!”
Health and safety fair participants vary by location but dentists, pediatricians, community service organizations, fire departments, and more are scheduled to attend the enhanced Backpack Saturday event.
