The energy drink craze is making its way to Starbucks. The coffeehouse added a new green coffee extract-based energy drink to its menu and tomorrow, July 13, customers can try the beverage for free. Simply visit a participating location between noon and 3 p.m. to receive a free 12-ounce cup of either the Starbucks Refreshers Cool Lime or Very Berry Hibiscus flavors.
If you don’t like the taste of coffee but want to try a new Starbucks Refreshers, then you’re in luck; the green coffee extract doesn’t taste like coffee at all. This sounded a bit confusing to me and perhaps I’m not alone in my confusion because Starbucks released a video yesterday explaining why green coffee extract doesn’t have that traditional coffee taste.
While both of the flavors sound tasty, I’m planning to try the Very Berry Hibiscus. The photos of the beverage, complete with floating whole blackberries, look quite tasty and yes, even refreshing.
The Starbucks Refreshers line doesn’t just feature fresh-made beverages. The product line also includes grab-and-go sparkling beverages in three flavors: raspberry pomegranate, strawberry lemonade and orange melon.
Starbucks also brought the in-store Refreshers flavors to the Starbucks VIA product lineup. Simply open up a packet of Very Berry Hibiscus or Cool Lime, add it to a bottle of cold water and you’re set.
I’m not a fan of traditional energy drinks, but I’m intrigued by the combination of green coffee extract and real fruit juice in the new Starbucks energy drink. Guess I’ll have to make time to visit my local store tomorrow afternoon and try one.
