Park City Mountain Resort is located (surprise, surprise) in the town of Park City in Utah and hosted some of the events of the 2002 Winter Olympics. Ironically, given how environmentally aware the mountain is today, the resort was started in 1963 by one of the last mining companies in Park City. The resort offsets 100 percent of its energy use using wind credits, invests heavily in less wasteful snowmaking equipment, and is aggressively transitioning all of its lighting to more efficient types. For the 2011-2012 season, it has unveiled the Park City Environmental Kiosk, an educational exhibit showing off different kinds of renewable energy and other green technologies.
