2.7 mill for 40k gallons of camelina oil. that's $67.50 a gallon. must be an expensive refining process. i understand making money, and nothing makes money like selling stuff to the gov't.
Last year on Earth Day, the U.S. Navy flew an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet using a biofuel blend made of 50 percent conventional jet fuel and a biofuel made from the camelina plant. The flight went off without a hitch with no noticeable performance difference between it and an engine running on 100 percent conventional jet fuel. The Navy awarded a $2.7 million contract to a biofuel company based in Montana for 40,000 gallons of camelina-based fuel, and wants to develop a certification system for a wide variety of sources.
