These examples are great for all involved and is a model for environmental progress. All sectors should employ a similar strategy to what is presented in the article and immediately implement every green practice they can that SAVES MONEY and IMPROVES OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE while having the added benefit of reducing our impact on the planet.
If you anti military tree huggers had any sense about you, you would support all progress in the green arena and concentrate on promoting methods that are both
.... More
green and more efficient for the stakeholders. Don't just be ideological idiots.

Peter I agree w/my Army bretheren. In the military we are held to MUCH stricter standards than the civilian sectors. I see it more and more everyday since returning to work in the civilian work force. They except lower standards that would never be tolerated in any company , squadron or command. Before slamming the people who provide you with the everyday freedoms you enjoy consider your audience. I think we are making an effort to go green and regardless of the amount its a start in the right
.... More
direction.

Abandoned U.S. bases are rife with pollution because they have been too ignorant to care for the place they live and you're gonna try selling this as being responsible?
Get real. This is more about some politician rewarding contributors than it is about environmental responsibility.

Peter, I served over 20 years in the Army and we never "Abandoned" any bases. The Armed Forces policies on refuse, recycling, and the environment in general are several times more strick than any city I have lived. It is not un-common for units or soldiers to be fined for not seperating and recycling thier garbage. A small oil leak from a vehicle costs that Company Commander 25K, show me wear any civilian fleet of vehicles ensure they have a drip pan under every vehicle just in case there is a small

leak. How about you go see a recruiter and see what the military is all about. It is nothing like what the media portrays.
