This possibility (inevitability) has been coming for a long time. When a service or a product is provided at less than its cost; financial disaster is sure to follow.
I think the restrictions the postal service has on a business model really impacts the overall ability of it to survive. It troubles me that the one of the biggest factors in the financial straits the USPS faces is caused by the prefunding of the future retiree health benefits. This isn't, as I understand it, a typical practice.
