Lure invented that forces fish to bite
BIOTECH LURE: The technology utilizes chemo-sensory stimuli that activate taste sensors, resulting in nerve reflexes that force fish to swallow. (Photo: Chris-Havard Berge/Flickr)

The time (in the context of a light year) is constant - one year, I don't know where you're getting this thousand year thing from.
A light year the is the distance traveled in _said one year_. There is no other way a light year can be used (such as a measure of time) unless you change the definition of light year itself.
Anyway, I'm just saying what everyone else is saying. About the lure, it's interesting that they can do this and you should never stop knowledge, but please don't sell.... More
Posted By Ron Hager - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 1:21 PM ESTI have been using this type of lure all of my life
It is called "Live Bait".
Posted By Phillip - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:37 PM ESTWeighing in on fish
It's pretty obvious that most of these comments are made by people of general ignorance, or by those who are anti anything they deem improper. This lure may indeed make it easier to catch fish, but it is the individual state and federal wildlife authorities that control fish populations. Limits are set to provide sustainability and healthy populations by species. The species are monitored constantly, as are the fishermen. The funding for all this research and law enforcement is paid almost.... More

You can do the same thing by spraying WD40 on your fishing lure. It's illegal because of environmental laws, but it works

From a fisherman's perspective, i would have to say any responsible fisherman out there would be returning the fish after the catch and maybe a photo taken. Unless of course you are actually fishing for food in which you only keep what you need. The rest are released back to the water. Not all fisherman fish just to kill fish and to label us all is ignorent.

and there it is folks this guy said it right only keep a few for eating and return the others http://www.blogtext.org/bigfish/

Enter your comments here Great, just what the world needs: another hi-tech way for humans to kill other creatures without skill or interaction. Why not just throw sticks of dynamite into the lake or stream? Jerks.
Posted By ArgotMay - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 1:30 AM EST"No to B.L.S!!!" says Charlie the Tuna!
Yes, that means you bad B.L.S. (Biopulse Lure System), people you. You can apologize to your own children and grandchildren as to what you say and do or not say and not do. That will be one saaaad day. Greed and lust for power take folks to new lows. This is species decimation for profit- and it will happen fast. I do hospice care- and I can tell you it won't be worth it on your day out of this world. You will regret a lot. The ultimate loss. Sigh.....

light years ahead fish.
Posted By Anonymous - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:44 AM ESTWTF WTF
This discussion is about fishes lure and not about light years...those of you who talked about light years have really messy minds which are called "IDIOTS". Please don't be angry on me as im just helping you understand things.
NEways the article is great and that's a nice discovery for fish industry until they start selling this for commercial use (Please don't do that).
Posted By Anonymous - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:27 AM ESTIn fact a light year does represent time
A light year is the distance that light would travel OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR (time). Hence if something is many light years ahead, that distance CAN be represented by the AMOUNT OF TIME it would take to get there.
Posted By Anonymous - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 1:44 PM ESTIn fact a light year does not represent time
In fact, you're wrong. In fact, a light year is a measure of distance. If I wanted to refer to the time it took light to travel the distance of "one light year", I would simply say "one year". In fact, some people speak in ignorance as if they are intelligent. In fact, they are not.
Posted By Sam Hall - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 11:03 AM ESTliterally light years
Whether it measures distance or time, the problem is that this presumably otherwise intelligent scientist said "We are literally light years ahead of what's out there right now," meaning that, without exaggeration, he is located either thousands of years in the future or millions of miles away, somewhere far out in space. Help stop "literally" abuse: http://literally.barelyfitz.com/

Sounds like a sales pitch in the form of "breaking news"
Posted By Philip - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:07 AM EST1000 years does not equal a light year
Light years are a measure of distance. It's like saying they are a "country mile" ahead of the compertition or "miles in front",
Posted By Mike - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:07 AM ESTLure invented that forces fish to bite
I can just see us fishing all the fish out the sea with something like this.
Posted By Chris - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:37 AM ESTAlready doing it
We're already on target to fish the ocean to extinction even without this lure... but it could speed up the process a bit I suppose.
Posted By Robert - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 2:21 AM ESTerrr... How?
Most lures are used in freshwater fishing, and there are some people that go surf fish, but the big threat to fish stocks (especially in the oceans) is commercial fishing which doesn't use lures.
So in what way will this speed up depletion of oceanic fishing stocks?
Posted By Bwa ha ha - Tue, Jan 12 2010 at 12:06 AM ESTLight years huh?
@ BJ
Like 1000 years?!? Dude, get your facts straight if you're gonna troll on someone like that. A light year is DISTANCE not TIME. I'll give you a moment .... aaaaah yeah there it is, that my friend is the feeling of being a douchebag. Congratulations!!!
Posted By BJ - Mon, Jan 11 2010 at 11:58 PM ESTLight years
Literally light years ahead eh? So we shouldn't even know about this lure for like 1000 years.
