Peter's comments as usual are right on. But he could have gone much further to point out how much of the news is turned into mind-numbing, repititive pablum by the need for cable news to fill up 24 hours every day, 365 days a year. Naturally this results in even the most trivial events being reported over and over again to the point that it's almost impossible to find useful detail or interesting analysis, even on the tragedy of the day. If you need more evidence of this, I give you the 2008 presidential campaign, frequently with as many as a dozen commentators speculating and arguing with each other about what "may be said" in an upcoming speech and then discussing ad nauseam what was actually said, even if it was identical to what they predicted.

Not only did you touch on the scare tactics the media has been using with the "DREADED SWINE FLU!!!!" you also pointed out how ridiculous the nature of shark attack reporting is. Bravo!

We will see
It is called H1N1 now... However it was used like a cheap scandal news by media. Fortunately it is not so scary...
