Q. I’m going on a road trip in my diesel-engine car -- how do I find out in advance where I can get biodiesel on the road, so I can plan out my fuel stops?

A. Your life is about to get a whole lot easier. The National Biodiesel Board has created a map of the entire USA, with green dots marking stations that offer biodiesel. The site also boasts a complete list of biofuel pumps from Cali to North Carolina, and next to each listing is an exact address and contact phone number. Many entries also list hours of operation, different biodiesel blends available at the pump, and credit cards accepted at the station. Some station listings even let you know what kinds of food are available for purchase there, and whether or not a carwash is an option. With a few minutes of online research, you’ll be able to plan your route to a T. And if by some terrible turn of events you do get stuck on empty somewhere between coasts, just drop by a McDonald’s and pick up some fry grease. Happy road-tripping.
