Lots of Volunteers!
Sat, Jul 11 2009 at 9:35 AM
We had 80 volunteers sign up and a great turn out in the end. Probably about 25-30 people came daily. Posting items online is a great idea! Posting items online after collection would be really helpful too. That way people can know what they need to buy off-campus, versus what they can get in Waste Not's fall sale.
Make the End of the School Year Greener
Wed, Apr 01 2009 at 10:04 PM
At Wesleyan University, a program called Waste Not!, organized by several Committees of the University community, is committed to making our end of the school year and school graduation ceremony environmentally friendly.  The students volunteering for the program work through the last few weeks of school cleaning up the university, encouraging reuse of dorm and residence items, and generally helping to organize the end of the year with greener standards.

Every student is encouraged to join Waste Not!, and can work as many or as few hours as the student chooses.  Students are given free housing and even a few meals.  Students and faculty volunteering for this wonderful program enjoy opportunities to work outside in the beautiful April-May sunshine, watch their friends and peers graduate, and contribute greatly to improving the University’s environmental standards during one of its busiest and most exciting times of the year.  There are so many benefits to this wonderful idea - see if a program like Waste Not! can start at your school!
