In the 3-year period from 2006 to 2008, pit bull type dogs killed 52 Americans and accounted for 59% of all fatal attacks. Combined, pit bulls and rottweilers accounted for 73% of these deaths. Rap is deserved.

I guess you are not allowed to put a link but if yo go to " dog bite dot org" you can see the statistics and there is no question the "bad rap" is actually just a fact that these dogs are very dangerous.

It is not an owner problem though pit bulls do tend to attract bad owners. The real problem is they have a base instinct to kill or main once they attack. Read the cases of owners maimed and killed by the breed. Having one around your kids is like giving them a loaded gun to play with, it if doesn't go off all is good.
