If you have a vege-plot, then the manure is great too, especially for brassica's. Here in England the same zoning laws aren't quite as bad and anyone can have a vege-plot. However, there are probably some restrictions on livestock - not that I've ever found any :)

Lawn seed is normally a complex mix of different species. If a lawn gets too long, the longer species stop light to smaller ones and cause die off. It is these longer varieties that often leave the lawn looking brown and unkempt.

I live in bustling London forging an existence as a gardener and writer. Attempting sustainability as much as possible, I grow vegetables on my allotment, keep chickens, and try and make my gardening business as green as possible.

I run the website, www.theguidetogaygardening.com, work within the television industry as a garden expert and provide articles covering gardening, health and fitness, and running.
