My boyfriend once got me flowers, which we had in a vase on the counter because our cats rarely get on the counter. What I didn't realize was that the lilies in the bouquet fall apart when they get too wilted and there were close enough to the edge of the counter for the petals to fall to the floor. I realized something was wrong after one of our kitties threw up for the second time and I saw chewed up petals in her vomit. After a weekend in detox she was fine, but those flowers cost $800.
