Perhaps I misspoke, or did not complete my thought
Tue, Nov 09 2010 at 9:01 AM
Chris, I'm not trying to capsulate our present problems into one administration. I believe this mound of troubles began far back - perhaps in the 20's. I think our Founding Fathers had it right, but things just compounded and rolled into one giant stink eventually - which is what we have to smell now. Trust me, I'm no fan of the GW admin, Clinton or any others. The only I can come close to is Reagan, but simply because he is the best out the lot of recents. We're way off track here. Actually, I've been following worldwide politics a bit and see the same trends all over the globe. No doubt our influence peddling is in the mix. Our military and government is bloated and has a life of it's own now. This must be cut in the bud, as it were. The vast expense to keep our troops stationed all over - who knows where altogether is mountainous. The technology they use is incredibly over priced and in so many cases, does not even perform - except under conditions set forth by the manufacturer. There were only two wars we actually won last century. WWI & WWII. Those were fought with men and steel...not capacitors and Rare Earth materials. As to ideology shifting and nothing being accomplished, this is our system. We made it and we must live by it for now, until that system gets changed. This is why I feel the Tea Party is something to look long and hard at. We need change - not just hope. Hope is for those who sit and watch. Thanks for allowing me to further comment.
The more we use, the faster we deplete resources.

Let's imagine a scenario here: Many of our consumer products need specialty materials, metals and chemically designed components to manufacture and distribute a product. All of a sudden some of these necessary ingredients are not available. First the price goes through the roof. Then we begin getting serious about recycling and reusing. Is this so bad? And what if the big companies go under? Is that so bad? Too big to fail? Baloney. Each of us citizens are too big to buy into this tripe. We are the ones in charge of our environment - not the industry that says we need this and that.
What? You think this is new?
Sun, Nov 07 2010 at 3:54 PM
Fighting over land and use of land has been going on for centuries in that area. Do you think this is new? OK, so Israel put a train on tracks and won't let Palestinians use it? So what? Palestine is upset about anything the Israelis do and vice-versa. Let them build whatever they want. The Palestinians will do whatever they think is their right to do, to keep the Jews from encroaching on what the Palestinians are convinced is their land. The whole thing is so convoluted and confused over time that they don't really know any longer why they are fighting each other. You gotta just shake your head in wonder at tribal influence and confrontation. By the way, we in America could take a well learned lesson from Israel in their border protection practices. And, they make every citizen spend a tour in the military. Gee, to think we've never done that. We are nothing more than cry babies waiting for the next attack, so we can complain more. We do nothing.

A new holiday trend: Renting Christmas trees
Mon, Dec 03 2012 at 3:26 PM
Rather than cutting down or buying a live tree, now you can rent one that can be reused for several holidays in a row.

John and his wife Carolyn really enjoy camping and anything outdoors. He works wood in his spare time and has great interest in building black powder relic pieces. He's enjoyed an aircraft crash survival course, Coast Guard Search & Rescue demonstration aboard a Dolphin Helo and learned to fly a small plane over the Siskiyou Mountains in the event the pilot slumps. It was intense. Experiencing life, when you are clinging to it, brings full appreciation for trying.

He comes from nearly three decades as a radio broadcaster. Every job in radio to have had, was his at one time or another. He pursued his business degree after leaving radio. He's a native Oregonian with a keen eye to the environment, land steward politics and potential areas that may have been overlooked by other media outlets. The present environment is rich with potential news and he's happy to be able to share some of our Pacific Northwest stories, from Oregon!

We presently manage an eco-friendly Rapid Refill business in Portland. We save companies and consumers money on printing inks and toners, as well as increase recycling each time a cartridge is purchased from us. As each cartridge has many more lives than the box store cartridges, we are saving the Earth one cartridge at a time.
