Inconsistent localism may be better than blind localism

I agree with you - locavores can't have double standards. I think some locavores tend to criticize businesses that are local in some respects and not others when they should really seek more well-rounded critiques. If a business or restaurant is getting products or materials from places that are more energy efficient or resource efficient than closer establishments, this should be considered. Locavores can't just assume that closer is always better in terms of efficiency. They should instead commend businesses that try to maintain a balance between local materials as well as efficiently produced materials.

If you have a few bucks to spare, every little bit will count. A lot of people won't be able to work for a while down by the gulf, and families relying on the fishing industry for survival need all the help they can get. Lots of money will be needed to relieve environmental as well as economic devastation in that area, so send whatever you can.
