The container for kitchen scraps is separate and only about a gallon or two in size. I don't think that is excessively large. The yard waste container is as large as the recycling container The large yard waste container is used for leaves, small tree limbs, etc. I used to just bundle up the brush and limbs with twine, but this is much better.
