I always laugh when I read

I always laugh when I read things like this. Growing up in the 70's, there were rooms in my friends' houses where only the grown ups could gather. At neighborhood get togethers, kids were not allowed to hang with the adults. Parents frequently had nights when the kids were shipped to someone else's house and they went out. Our restaurants were the cafeterias, fish camps, McD's. I just don't understand today's obsession with including the kids in EVERYTHING. Adults need places and times to just be adults. I'm all for this

Please do not be impressed by NC's 50% standing in the ratings. Our new governor and his good ole boy cronies just this week voted to decimate unemployment benefits and against the Medicaid expansion, effectively dooming millions in this state to homelessness and starvation. Our charities are beyond overwhelmed because no one is contributing in this poor economy. And yet every one of these policitians will be in the front pew on Sunday. What a misrepresentation!
My employer recently

My employer recently instituted some new protocols (read, rules) regarding vacation sign ups. You must use all of your earned vacation time in that year or lose it. However, you are only allowed to take vacation time if staffing levels allow for someone to be off and if those covering for you in your absence are not in overtime or pulled in from the all too expensive "as needed (PRN)" pool. Since our staffing levels are always borderline below what is called for, no one is allowed to sign up for time off until staffing levels improve. And someone out there will wonder why the reporter wrote this article and how it could possibly be relevant in this day and age.
