Its called the Pacific Northwest, and stretches from Northern California through to British Columbia. The trees are what remains of the Giant Redwoods, (Sequoia Sempervirens) the tallest trees on the planet, and the largest biomass of any living thing. In the last 100 years, they have been logged to the point where less than 3% of the original forests remain. Most groves left are in Northern CA. They get even larger than the tree you see in this photo, but the logging continues. They are home to myriad types of creatures, and to stand next to one is to know God.
