I am extremely fair skinned

I am extremely fair skinned (ok white to be specific, very very white) and usually burn within 5 minutes. I wear long sleeves, use a hat with a very wide brim and even up here in the state of Montana, it helps a great deal. I have not been burnt in years! Sunscreen removed the paint off my bicycle frame years ago and I totally refuse to use it now. I do choose to stay out of sun until about an hour or two prior to sunset if I must go outdoors without a hat.
