If you’re an environmentlist or a foodie, by now you’ve heard that many people are asking the new first family to plant an organic garden, or a White House Victory Garden, on the lawn of the White House. The Obamas are being asked to lead by example when it comes to their eating habits, and growing their own organic garden (actually, having their gardening staff grow it for them) is one way this can be done.
This week, I’ll be featuring various videos that have been created to get the public behind this request. They are educational, inspirational and they just may be what’s needed to bring this vision of a sustainable White House lawn to fruition.
Today’s animated video is from Kitchen Gardeners International. It’s titled The Garden of Eatin: A Short History of America’s Garden. I didn’t know there was once a year-round tropical fruit greenhouse at the White House, did you?
