Gary Miller (right) of Napa, Calif. celebrates after his 1,985-pound Atlantic Giant pumpkin took first place in the 40th Annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off on Oct. 14 in Half Moon Bay, Calif.

Because the first place cash prize is determined by weight ($6 per pound), Miller walked away with a hefty $11,910.

The ginormous gourd weigh-off signals the start of the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, a family friendly event that boasts extreme pumpkin carving, live music, haunted houses, pie-eating contests, a pumpkin parade and more.

Want to get your picture taken with these megalithic pumpkins? The winners will be on display at the festival from Oct 19-20.
